its always best to get up early, right? it has been a 4am start to the day, with titanium on the menu, its not that I need to, I want to get up and do this. Get'er done is the motto, catch up on long overdue stuff and take on new stuff, gotta pay rent, gotta eat...
on a side note, recommend a respirator when using a beartex wheel, unless you like coating your lungs with the stuff...

titanium singlespeed with a lefty? get your Titanium lefty head tube here!
sounds like a porn name if you ask me. Salt Lake local Greg Steele ordered this rig for an upcoming event, and as usual I am powering forward at full speed to knock it out. Today will see some metal actually get stuck together.
The real ass kicker is the head tube, the spec requires me to use essentially a pipe to achieve the proper size. I am not looking forward to turning this thing to size, as it will not only take time, but more importantly a shit ton of the VERY expensive material will hit the floor in the process.
Its 6am, time to get to the shop.
I will have extra head tubes, so if you need one for a Canondale lefty in ti please call, and thanks to the crew at Form cycles for the hookup, will send you that dropout next week when the dust settles.

singlespeed time trial park city, july 28th at 6pm (2011)
okay, so since google crawls blogs so well its time to make sure this post gets found. The park city singlespeed society will be hosting the first annual, and one of many to come, underground races next week! go to the website to sign up as the slots will be limited.
Bring your sense of humor, leave your lycra at home, and bring your bike. Singlespeeds only, but I will lock out your derailleurs for the event (a harmless and reverseable function) for free, so you can get the experience. Be ready for a suprise event midway on the course.
Entry fee is free, but we'll be passing the bucket to take donations to go to the moutain trails foundation, so grab your spare change or put aside a few bucks for a good cause!
So come on out, the awards party will be right after the event at the High West Saloon in old town Park City, conveniently located just down the street from the finish line.

resale value...
A recent customer spent a few days, well perhaps a week..driving me up a wall about buying a bike from me. The most interesting part was how he told me that he could buy a BH road bike from a friend with a 'connection' at a much smaller price; clearly in an attempt to get me to lower mine. It was a great tactic, although a bit cliche.
The real kicker was when he asked about 'resale value', more to the point was if the bike would gain value in time. Holy shit, is this a house? have my bikes gone on a publicly traded market that dips and rises in value based on the amount of money the fed is willing to back for lending to buy them? am I charging too little?
Gimme a break. These are bicycles, metal things cut and welded (or glued) together to make something fun that can provide an escape from the realities of life. Do the guys that wear full lycra team kits out there actually think they are riding professionally? no, of course not, but they are escaping life for a bit and that is awesome!
The guy bought the bike (pic above), and busted my balls for a free computer and water bottle and anything else I could offer him, and I took care of him, because hopefully after all the sales bullshit is over, that person will be out riding and suddenly realize how much fun riding is.
Group hug is over, time to work

ski lift chair swing for the yard from park city resort!
so the weekend was sort of a blur, with nights ending around 10:30-11pm and starting around 7:30, ugh. I had two ski chairs from park city mountain resort that needed custom swing frames made for them so they could be set up at their new owner's home.
Unlike some folks who do this, I wanted a set up that could be broken down for storage or at the very least be easy to move around.
The top of the thing detaches from the legs and the chair can be unhooked from the chain, pretty sweet.
I spent more damn time grinding off the remaining weldement from the original main support arm that ties the chair to the lift cable, impressive structure and it makes me quite confident in chairlift strength for sure! Oddly enough, there were no drain holes though, which seems odd since it prevents the water from draining out over time.
Anyhow, if you or someone you know needs one give me a shout, 400 bucks is the price (for the rig, chair not included, you are on your own with that one...things are like gold around here).
shit, hope I left the alarm on!
